My opinions on NaNoWriMo are well documented here on the blog. Go ahead and do it. It helps a lot of people be motivated. Personally, I would just offer the advice that you at least consider it a rough draft needing fleshed. I can almost assure you that if you query it at the word count you have at the end of the month, it is going to be getting a lot of rejections.
All of this said I am moving forward well on my own novel. I still don’t have the overall production levels that I was sporting a year ago, but it isn’t terrible. There are 18 one page or fewer scenes to write, plus finishing the final chapter. After that, I can begin editing in earnest.
It’s been an odd journey writing this book. I’ve learned enough along the journey that I will need to manage some extreme rewriting on the first half dozen chapters. Granted, a work is never really perfected, just honed enough to be acceptable. Personally, I’m just glad to have forward motion again.
