Mother Earth Monday – Sounds of Nature

Today I am posting a Ted-talk, but I think I should preface it with a bit more of my own perspective. As a student of the Tracker School and Tom Brown Jr., I have known for years that you can read a lot of what is happening in a natural setting by the sounds around you. There are concentric rings that can be heard and interpreted by those who know how. Life speaks. Through it, you can know so much more about what is going on in a forest than what you see. This Ted talk illustrates how quickly you can register the ill health of a natural setting by listening to the sounds. It also shows how even when we think we are doing something environmentally sound, it might not be as sound as we think. No pun intended. With all of this in mind, the link to the talk is below.
